Iida Group Holding has established cooperation with the University of Tokyo, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), and Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) to conduct joint research into the development of timber houses. The research aims to promote earthquake-resistant, durable, and energy-efficient timber houses.
The inauguration of the collaboration was attended by various important figures, including the President of Iida Group HD, Masashi Kanei, and the rectors and professors of the institutions involved. Over the next three years, the project will focus on developing model houses, analytical surveys of local building materials and structures, and activities to raise public awareness of the advantages of wooden houses.
In Indonesia, timber houses are still rarely built, although the government is looking for ways to increase their use in line with global decarbonization trends. Iida Group HD utilizes the technology it has developed to create termite- and earthquake-resistant houses with high thermal insulation.
